I sat in the roosterpit of the Mirage 4000, somewhat lost in reverie from the aroma of the dark roast I had moments before. I take some time to stare at the front console.

There it was -- an obnoxious, attention grabbing, idiot-proof red safety cover with the letters "STUPID" printed in white down its length, sheathing the toggle switch that for all its worth might as well be used to douse me in lighter fluid and set myself ablaze -- disable angle of attack limiter.

I think I've outdone myself on this one. If only my instructor could see me now. He'd loving snap my neck in two.

The marshaller outside gives me the signal to spool up my engines. I've been authorized to fly with the purpose of testing the new changes incorporated into the Mirage 4000. Should be interesting. A trip down the taxiway and a few radio communications later, I take off and climb to 10000 feet where I'm contacted by the communications officer that will be organizing the testing. I flip the toggle.

apparently im not leaving tomorrow im leaving the day after
still no new missions for huits though

More like Steele and his trusty sidekick, Blue Eyes. No offense but A) Steele is a higher rank and B) Steele was your captain when you were in NAUC.
More like stop being shot down and costing your government 50 million dollars outta cash payers wallets!!!

you just dont want to recognize the facts

So for mobile ground air defense I did so research to make SAMs less squishy and more believable. Also you will have more variety than "SAM TRUCK" which end up getting strafed.

Infared Missiles: They lock on a heat source. Older missiles can be fooled by flares. New Systems have cameras mounted to lock on to the origional Heat Source.

List of Infared Missile systems
MIM-72 Chaparral:
Guidance: Infrared
Range: 9000 meters
Altitude: 4000 Meters
Speed: Mach 1.5
Warhead: 12.6kg HE Frag
4 missiles loaded, 8 in storage

Altitude: 5000 meters
Speed: Mach 2.3
Warhead: 13kg HE Frag

Radar Missiles: These are are guided via radar as well being manually guided to their target. However since they require radar guidance, the radar system/missile launcher on the ground can be jammed via jammer pod or destroyed with an anti-radiation missile.
Anti Radar Missiles can also be defeated by having the radar being constantly being flicked on and off.

I'm flying over the ocean in the Hornet, getting accustomed to the new electronics and instrumentation on the flight back to Valhalla, flipping through radio channels to see if there's anything happening nearby, before switching to a South Aesthian channel.  I look at the radar screen, nothing on there either. There's nothing but blue sky and ocean for miles, so I listen to the radio while I quickly look at a map on my HUD.

I think all of the nations poured their military budgets into developing aircraft, but I haven't seen much of attack choppers except for that one mission.
New Systems have cameras mounted to lock on to the origional Heat Source.
and all of the damn heatseekers get fooled by flares most of the time, I guess that's for balance because it would be too easy to shoot down everyone. (newer air-to-air missiles have this feature too, you know.)

If SAMs were as good in this as they are in real life then mlockha would be going through like two planes per mission. Realism doesn't equate to fun.

they DID shoot down a passenger jet and 30,000 feet
but it probably wasn't too hard

a civilian jet doesn't have countermeasures and can't maneuver like a fighter plane.

this brother hasn't done a barrel roll in a full capacity 777
what a casul

>you'll tear the wings off>for an aircraft the big, yes you'll need them

Ever heard of the Israelis?
you must be fun at parties

The first three were bashful contradictions, the fourth was a statement of fact.

>He can't fly an aircraft through sheer force of will
