It's just a name though. It's basically a contact list. I've used Steam to talk to people who I've done business with, but they weren't really my friend.

We're on a public forum for discussion. The entire point of topics is so that people can discuss (or argue about) the contents of the original post and the preceding posts. So, quite literally, "argue about it" is ALWAYS a choice, if not the intention of the website.

If I don't at least consider someone an acquaintance, I have no reason to need to contact them. If I don't need to contact them, I don't add them as a friend on steam. That's how I end up with stuff like this:
