Author Topic: Accidentally managed to cut my finger yesterday  (Read 1122 times)

After hours of sleep deprivation I was asked to open a bag, I went to cut it open but I hadn't been paying attention, when I cut the bag my finger was also in the knifes blood zone (the zone that is dangerous in the event the knife slips)
The knife slid and got my finger, the serrated edge tore the tip slightly.
I already tore the flap of skin off because those never heal back in place it seems.

It wouldn't quit bleeding until this morning, I now have multiple bloodied bandages, and a blooded finger thing I made to cover the cut so I could use my finger without disturbing it.

Surprisingly enough it didn't hurt when it happened, it only became sore to the touch after a few hours

Now for a funfact:
The fingertips are apparently some of the most sensitive parts on the human body

(pm me if you want a low quality photo of it)

It's because of the serrated edge that you did not really feel anything for the most part but then the pain became bigger. Also serrated edge cuts heal harder.

That makes sense. I rarely get knife cuts so I'm not quite sure on how they work out.
Paper cuts though!

i hit my self with a hand saw 2 years ago and i have a big scar on the back of my hand from it too.
it didn't hurt, started to sting after i got it dipped in water
the biggest pain was the tetstar fish shot :(

Paper cuts hurt so much because they only lightly cut the skin open, exposing nerve cells to the air.
And you usually get paper cuts on your hands/fingers, and they have a high density of nerve receptors, being one of the most sensitive parts on the body, alongside the genitals.

Anyway, make sure to keep the wound nice and clean.
Bathing it in a bowl of warm salt water will help, but it'll sting at first.

be thankful it wasnt your richard

The water here comes from an underground tank, its dirty as can be.

I remember this

my dad recently sliced off a good chunk of his finger with a mandolin-type slicer. took off a good part of his fingernail, too.

the funny part was that he mentioned it to the guys that he plays mmo's with and one of them mailed him gloves that you're supposed to use with slicers to keep yourself from cutting your fingers off.

When I was asleep I managed to cut myself with my toe. Broke the loving skin.

this is why i need to cut my toes
EDIT: "cut my toes" cut my toenails*

yeah it isn't too hard to make yourself bleed with your nails, i've accidentally cut someone open with my thumbnail before.

My brother used to cut the back of his heels open while sleeping on account of his gross long toenails.
