Can't wait for more! :D

Oh that sedan looks good! There's a police version that looks similar to that, but I forgot the set #. Will you make that?

If I will do sets like those with specifics purposes (police, fire, mining), I would release them in a pack separate from the ones I've made so far.  But yes, I will most likely make police and fire vehicles.

So I have been helping my friend with implementing Interactive Vehicle Support into his vehicle (while learning it myself along the way).  I am thinking of adding some interactive parts into one of the most detailed Lego vehicle I make.  I will start with the doors, and then I'll try things like a horn, stereo system, etc.

Can we see what the outside of the tires look like smooth-shaded (just the very outer part that touches the ground). It seems to me that with that many faces, smooth-shaded would look better, but I don't want to just assume it would.

Indeed I can try that

I smooth shaded the tires.  I'll smooth shade other parts of the car and see how they turn out.

You should plan on making better and smaller planes. Like these.
I got some good ones I've made..

Because who's every going to really use a big 15+ passenger plane? A couple have been made before and they were almost never used.

Lego hasn't made a whole lot of good, small planes.  The bi-plane and the stunt plane are the best looking small planes I could find, and the large planes are more of a stretch goal.  Once I get really proficient at making these things, I'll start designing my own Lego creations and make vehicles out of those.  And the first things I will make from my own head will definitely be some planes.  The more planes the better.

The smooth shaded version looks like it's made out of rubber

Haha, and according to the poll, others think the same.  Ok, non-flatshaded body it is.

Progress on the Camper is underway.  I am currently half way through the modeling process.

Bit late, but I'd to see like something in between. On the flat shaded one you can even see triangulation in some parts, on the smooth one you definitely over used it.

I'm not quite sure how I could achieve a healthy balance of both.  I'll mess around with different setups and see which is best.

It's really all about how well you're aquainted with two things: the Edge Split modifier and the Mark Sharp function. I see a few edges that could probably use a Mark Sharp on them on the smooth one, then it'd be almost perfect.

Just select specific parts of the car and smooth shade it instead of smooth shading the whole thing at once

I only smooth shaded the hood, "mudflaps" (as Lego calls them), and the top of the roof.  If I select all of these parts together, then smooth shade, would that have a different effect than selecting just the roof, smooth shading, then selecting the hood, smooth shading, etc.?

Done modeling the camper.  Now I've gotta add materials and a good script.
