Author Topic: Lego Vehicle Packs [Progress: Camper all done!]  (Read 11957 times)

I only smooth shaded the hood, "mudflaps" (as Lego calls them), and the top of the roof.  If I select all of these parts together, then smooth shade, would that have a different effect than selecting just the roof, smooth shading, then selecting the hood, smooth shading, etc.?

Done modeling the camper.  Now I've gotta add materials and a good script.
Are you smoothing in object or edit mode?

You should show us the camper.

You should show us the camper.

There are...a lot of bugs.  I just switched over to blender 2.71 from 2.69 and haven't gotten used to some of the new features.

Because who's every going to really use a big 15+ passenger plane? A couple have been made before and they were almost never used.
I have been praying for the moment someone finally makes a good passenger jet.

Camper is done!

It has three seats (driver, one at a table, one on the bed).  It has steering animations with HandsOnVehicle support and brake animations.  The wheels were also updated to be smooth shaded and a bit thinner.  I will be making the canoe into a playertype boat so that I can mount the canoe to the roof of the camper.  I will now be moving on to the rest of the cars in the City Car Pack so that I can release a pack.

Nice! I think the front needs more smoothing on the bumper and hood though.

I am gunna learn all proper techniques and tools for smooth shading and will fix up all of the models too look better.

I have a question about the camper. Does it end up having a ton of faces and creating lag in game if you use a few of them? It looks great though!

No.  In fact, I'm pretty sure it has fewer polys than many vehicles in blockland today.  If you think that I keep the faces from the bricks that are not visible, I don't.  Also, I combine all faces that can be combined and make sure I have the minimum number of polys for the model to work.

I got sidetracked by college prep.  I should be back to making vehicles by next week.
