Author Topic: Folder permissions are borked; no persistence whatsoever.  (Read 905 times)

I've had the Steam version of Blockland for a while now, and I haven't bothered with trying to seriously fix this problem yet, but it's finally getting on my nerves. So here's what went down.

I transferred my key to Steam and downloaded Blockland. After doing that, I replaced the new cache.db, config, saves, and Add-Ons folders to the Steam directory. Then I opened Blockland, and that's where the issues began. Here's a list of what I can't do:

- Save builds
- Save changed preferences (including controls, clan tags, avatar, etc.)
- See any player decals, face and shirt included
- Modify/download add-ons through the game (e.g. Auto-Updater won't update)

So, it's rather annoying by now. I'm running Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks, but this problem still existed when I was on 10.7. I've tried deleting cache.db, changing the permissions of all the folders to read/write/execute for all, and verified game cache multiple times, all to no avail.

Help. (;~;)

The Steam Mac version has numerous issues.

Badspot, make the game better for mac users.

have you checked all the folder permissions all the way from where the file is up to the root directory?

have you checked all the folder permissions all the way from where the file is up to the root directory?
No, I should do this. I've only backtraced the permissions up through the main Steam directory. However, if the application uses a global path instead of a local one, that could be the issue.

and/or steam directory is read only somehow

If permission changes apply, you could always write a batch file as a launcher. Use a few lines to rewrite the permissions properly and then then a line to launch the Blockland launcher.
