Author Topic: Should I get a seperate CPU and GPU or just an all-in-one AMD APU  (Read 2706 times)

I made a thread about getting a new computer a while back, but I wanted to know if I should just get an all-in-one AMD APU instead of a seperate AMD CPU and nVidia GPU. I'm asking this because the APU seems to be cheaper than buying the two seperately. My concerns are it's not worth it down the line because it's hard to upgrade.

Thoughts?

cpu and gpu
apu's are a waste

Why?

Because of the fact they are made for extremely budget builds that are looking for just a smudge above a stuffty Intel integrated GPU

A discrete GPU will perform MUCH better than an APU

APU's are actually quite capable and are a more than suitable alternative if you're on a budget

The new Kaveri APU's have very improved GPU's. The A10-7850K has a Radeon R7 250 in it.

to me apu is just a gimmick word. its the same situation as running intel HD on an intel CPU. just better. but not by a long shot.

get both

APU's suck

Idiots

have you ever used an APU

Have you ever used a recent APU? The A10 will get you, for £120, a 4Ghz quadcore and an R7 250 with the only thing required over a separate FX-series processor and a discrete R7 250 being a higher RAM requirement as the GPU doesn't have it's own VRAM.

my old APU was a quad core thing and it had integrated radeon graphics of some sort

it was the worst

keyword "old".
And are you sure it wasn't just onboard?
