like i have this one friend in malaysia and they showed a picture of them picking up rice with chopsticks to show someone it could be done and someone said they were culturally appropriating without even. looking up anything. this also happened to them when they drew a picture and they had the farmer with the big straw hat which i forget exactly what it looks like and someone instantly jumped onto calling them tribal

like i get they only mean good. but they're so rash about doing it.
i also don't exactly understand exactly what cultural appropriation is. from what i know, it's basically similar to when someone repeats what you said but in a forgeted-up voice to mock you and it's irritating? i guess and that makes sense kinda
but it's not just... appreciating culture as a white person. like eating chinese food isn't cultural appropriation i don't think. it's up to the chinese, and so far, the chinese have spoken about it and they don't seem to care so

By definition, cultural appropriation isn't inherently a bad thing. It really just means to perform practices found in other cultures; eating chinese food as an American would be an example. The only times it's a problem is when it's used to make fun of other cultures or romanticize / special interestize them, but I personally don't really see that as the same concept.

Despite that, SJWs love finding examples of people doing this, and regardless of the context, flame them for it, because they believe that all forms of appropriation are offensive, and this simply untrue.

basically, whether something is offensive or not should not be a variable system. like -
if we're deciding if 'pinay' is a slur or not, it's not like 'well it's also directed towards exclusively filipino girls, just like the n-slur'
it's dependent on whether or not people like me find it offensive. if me and my kind don't like it when people use it, then it's a slur. but as far as i feel i don't really mind it - ive never really heard it used much in the first place, and the only times i have heard it, it's the opposite of derogatory. so i don't consider it a slur.
however, this also means that some people may find it offensive. but there's no need to come up with a universal decision. just don't use 'pinay' around them.
