We must send in agents to root out and possibly even eliminate any foreign *coughDarchovcough* influence in these riots.  If the people of Aderland are doing this out of their own volition, they should be allowed to conduct lawful, peaceful protests.  However, if this is the work of foreign influence, an attempt to convert Adeland to communism, or the seditious activity of malicious neighbors, Aderland must protect itself and in one sweeping blow end the threat to peace and security within Aderland.  Meanwhile, the national military should be used to restore general order and give the people the opportunity to conduct themselves as fine citizens and be detained or fined or whatever if they fail to do so.

The same representative relates that Aderland's lack of access to the sea could be altered.  Perhaps the loan to Celaste could be approved and Aderland hold some of Celaste's land as collateral, namely a chunk that allows access to the sea.  Or, the idea of a loan could be scrapped, and the land could simply be sold to Aderland.

Sgt. Walter's unmentioned extra practice with his rifle is paying off, and his aim is improving.  His attempts to master trigonometry, however, in order to master gunnery are proving somewhat less successful, and he is therefore forced to either abandon his goal of becoming an artillery officer or to really get the mathematical fundamentals down pat, perhaps with the aid of some better educated person, so that he can get this math stuff figured out and aim a cannon correctly (Napoleon did something like that, right?).  Sgt. Walter ponders this conundrum.

Troops Gathering at Endrasian Border!
State Military Sent to Quell Rebellion
Aderland to Approve Celastian Loan
Troops from Darchov have amassed near the Darchov-Endras and the Austral-Darchov borders yesterday afternoon.  Darchov stays in silence about this movement, but its intentions are clear.  Austral, in response, has called out several military divisions to the Austral-Endras and Darchov-Austral borders.  In response to the Darchovian war preparation, Austral has both told Darchov to back off, saying that Endras was to be theirs to keep.  Austral calls upon us to help them in their mission.The State Military last week was sent in to stamp out rebellions in the north, and to regain control of the Neiderberg-Fraustocken rail line that has been seized by communist insurgents.

Darchov has since noticed this sudden mobilizing of troops and despite Aderlanish politicians claiming that it was an attempt to control a rebellion, has mobilized its own troops to the Darchov-Aderland borderlands.  Premier Kulikov told the Aderland government on its actions against its own people and Darchovian immigrants, claiming their actions were "Oppressive and far beyond necessary" yesterday.
Aderland has approved the loan to Celaste, under the condition that Celaste provide open borders for Aderland.  The Aderlandish government enthusiastically anticipates the founding of a navy.

Don't recognize Austral's claims to Endras, but do agree to aid Austral in its fight against Darchov if Aderland is in any way threatened by this war.  Darchov is clearly not our friend.

We should also mobilize troops to match Darchov's at our border.  Start work on artillery emplacements the range of which doesn't extend past the border.  Send diplomats to calm Darchov down and ensure that if the arrow must be used, the olive branch is still preferred.

If we have to go to war, note that Darchov has troops all along its borders.  See if we can get Sidlands on our side or very quietly provoke something between between them and Darchov to spread Darchov's troops out even more.  Do things Eisenhower containment style.

Planned:  Geographic Guide (or map, probably map), Supply line maps, maybe some other guides.

Diplomats tell the Austral Empire that you will back them up in the case of conflict, but will not recognize any foreign claim to Endras.

Troops begin to mobilize northward, but before they get to the border, artillery already begins firing, and Darchov has already dug in trenches.  Battles along the border are bloody, with almost immediate Aderlandish losses.  The battle begins between Austral and Darchov as well, though this more evenly matched.  The Aderlandish men dig in quickly and set up a temporary artillery emplacement, though they await further reinforcements.

All diplomats sent to Darchov were publicly humiliated in Rosk before being sent to manual labor camps.

Endras is invaded on both sides by Austral and Darchov.  The royal family and most government officials escape to Sildlands, where they are received in asylum.

Sildlands refuses to recognize sides in this war, except between Endras and Anteland.



Recent research indicates four things that may be of use to us:

  • Landships.
  • Toxic gas.
  • War Planes.
  • War Zepplins.

Draft a decree denouncing Darchov's unwarranted actions against Aderland and stating that any if Aderland falls all its stuff should be sabotaged, Nero Decree style.

Fortify the border with trenches, destroy any bridges that Darchov needs more than we do, set up minefields in strategic locations and start training troops, maybe enact a draft.  Rev up the war machine, interchangeable parts and mass and serial production.  Use the rainy day fund to get that done and to give our troops a technological edge with all of those things except Zeppelins, they're cool but not especially effective as weapons of war.  Create a war budget, less funding to any social programs, more funding to killing Darchov's soldiers and maintaining or expanding or border with Darchov.

Start drumming up patriotic and anti-communist fervor, especially in the North and South.  The North has/had commie influence and the South is farthest from the action.  Be sure to stress the (perhaps fictional) war atrocities committed by the Darchovian forces: rape of women, murder of innocent children and babies, and the like.  Stress the glory of ending this menace and the good that our fine soldiers can do.

Offer Celaste better terms on their loan if they will support us in this war, with the terms getting better and better the more support they give.  Even if they can't fight, they can fuel the war machine with cheap crops and manufacturing weapons (stress the positive economic effects of doing this to them).

Darchov's diplomats are paraded around Alzberg wearing nothing but bedsheets in the harsh winter.  They do not survive to be deported.

War Report:  Reinforcements have arrived!  Fortifications have become successful.  The Darchovian invasion has been halted sixty miles north of Neiderberg.

Government:  This was reasonable!  The incursions upon your own citizens, and also the attack of freedom-loving patriots were unwarranted, and therefore we must liberate them!  Burn in hell, capitalist refuse!

R&D:  We have begun work on the following:  War Planes, Landships and Toxic Gas Weapons, with special emphasis on War Planes.

& Governments:  Leave us out of this!



Endrasian forces are failing to both sides.  Cesk is being sieged by Austral, and the Darchovian forces are descending upon Kersk, though receiving much resistance.

Enact a very light draft, all males 20 to 30 or 35 have to register and go through basic military training.  Make some provision for legitimate conscientious objectors allowing them to register and train for some form of civil service in the social programs and non-military stuff we still have running, or being a part of the war machine but just not fighting if their conscience allows it, but make sure that only people with a real and provable moral/religious objection to military service can take advantage of this.  Make it clear that this is not going to turn into full out conscription unless the national security of Aderland is endangered, and that this is a provision to ensure such safety in future.  Encourage the men to volunteer.

Darchov must be taught to respect our borders and our sovereignty, continue to attack until they beg us for mercy and peace or we are spread too thin to continue, focusing on military targets and communication and logistics networks.  In any and all territory we capture, the troops should be considerate to the local population, winning over the hearts and minds of the natives by treating the people with respect and kindness and not raping, murdering, and looting like Darchov did.  We don't need resistance movements springing up behind our front or after potential annexation.  Distribute propaganda (including stuff depicting what the troops of Darchov did to "your own citizens" and  the "freedom-loving patriots" it was trying to "liberate" as it encountered them).

Military Intelligence Network:  We have pushed back Darchovian forces to our border antebellum in most areas.  Austral still contains much of the Darchovian forces, as it seems that they have focused more of their forces to the west, in capturing Endras and invading Austral.  The mountainous terrain at the interior of Austral, however, is proving difficult for Darchov to penetrate.  Kersk has fallen to Darchov, and Cesk to Austral.  The remaining land and the little remaining military between is being eaten up by both armies.  Endras, however, begins using poisonous gasses in order to deter the oncoming armies.

R&D:  We have completed work on the projects for poisonous gas, and the prototypes for landships.  War planes are still prototypes, and we are having difficulty with both lifting weapons and ordinances off of the ground, and with being able to fire guns from the planes without hitting the propellers.  This will take some time to figure out.

Bureau of Public Information:  Though some cases of Darchovian rape have occurred, as well as Australi and Aderlandish cases, shall we continue to display propaganda?

Sgt. Walter is promoted all the way to 2nd Lieutenant rank in the process of the war.  As an officer, 2nd Lt. Walter is offered State training for field artillery.

Pvt. Clauberg is promoted to Warrant Officer 2 in the process of the war.

The two men meet in Austral as reinforcements to the Darchovian invasion of Austral in a bar.

In addition, 2nd Lt. Walter is rewarded with 3 more points to assign.  No points may be taken away from any current statistics.  Warrant Officer Clausberg can assign 1 point with the same guidelines.  mlockha and Plethora may now also create another special character, Plethora with a starting 11 points, and mlockha with 10.
