Author Topic: I need new headphones help  (Read 5830 times)

So about two years ago I went and bought the Razer Chimaera headset, because I was stupid and didn't know better. Well today they finally crapped out and I need a new pair of headphones. I'm looking for actual headphones this time, and not a stuffty "gaming headset", and I have a budget of ~100 dollars.

I've done a little bit of research, and so far I've found these three headphones that look alright;
http://www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Headphones-Black-Discontinued-Manufacturer/dp/B005N8W1TM
http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-M50-Professional-Monitor-Headphones (These are a little over budget so i dunno)
http://www.amazon.com/Koss-ProDj200-Studio-Headphone-Silver

Those are the three suggestions I found scattered around the internet in the few places I searched, but now I'm coming here for more suggestions/help. Like I said, my budget is ~100 dollars, which I understand isn't a lot for a pair of decent headphones. But im hoping I can work around my budget. Also, I only listen to black/death metal, if that helps at all.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I've heard that they are pretty good.

i'm not sure about the noise cancellation on those but they are probably really good if your one for the noise cancellation

could you support your argument with evidence, please?

The sennheisers are open-back headphones, so there's no noise isolation or cancellation, but there is a better soundstage.

oh
anyways i think you should buy the senheisers

Those ATHs look pretty nice. For a similar price there are the V-Moda Crossfade LPs. I've had them for about a year and they hold up pretty well. Solid construction and nice sound quality.

I dont really care about noise isolation/cancellation, so I honestly dont care. But if you can find a better pair of headphones with those things, then im all ears.

yeah and you have proper evidence, this is coming from the guy who tried offering an afterglow headset
if op wants headphones from there then he'd be stuck with these

they're hideous and putting "dj" in all of them pisses me off, I hate sennheiser especially because of their site
I'd reccomend a superlux hd668b if you want a cheap pear, or if you want to spend a bit more go for some audio technica ath m30's or something. The m50's are nice, so I'd suppose those are

why are they bad though
everything you've stated is complete opinion on whats important in headphones
sennheiser just focuses on different areas than what you think are important
that doesnt make them "trash"

Yeah I'm not entirely sure where he is coming from.
"They are trash."
"Why?"
"I hate their website."
