Author Topic: Dungeon Endeavour - Don ye sword (voting is complete)  (Read 15717 times)

Having believed to have learned my lessons with previous adventures, I think I finally have a good grasp on the elements needed to keep an adventure stable. That being said, let's give this one last go with:

What's this Bull?

The Endeavour series has become a flagship title in the depths of Community Project forum adventures, ranging from a mining adventure, to an RPG, to my failed space series, and even spawning the very successful (albeit dismayed these days) Menen-verse series (MSMM, CC, Deadrock and Chivalry).

Supreme Guy's contribution to the Blockland forum adventure realm is a very strong presence. But there hasn't been an Endeavour to fully see itself to completion. I intend to change that.

Using the Deadrock RPG system (I've described it as DnDlite) I wrote back in the day, and mixed-mashed DnD elements, this is Dungeon Endeavour. Four heroes (user generated as usual) will embark on a quest to find the greatest riches imaginable in this simple, yet very enjoyable dungeon crawler. No complex and needless story line, no over-zealous sense of seriousness, no complex character and world building. Just good ol' dungeon glory.

The goal is to collect treasure. Make it through all 50 levels of the dungeon, and make it out alive. The person at the end of the story to have the most gold is the winner. That's it.

I'll be designing the dungeons, and using a little bit of Rogue like randomness (i.e. rolling a die to see where to place enemies and traps and such), will be setting up a quest for loot. The play is as simple as always, four of you design a character, we'll vote to see which four get to go on the quest, and then every forum member has access to the controls of these four heroes (their respected creators having first say, of course) as they embark on this great quest.

Such an occasion requires a great upgrade. Please allow me to introduce for the first time:

Endeavour v2

Choose a race
Choose a class

Warrior - includes fighters, paladins and rangers

Wizard - includes mages

Priest - includes clerics and druids

Rogue - includes thieves and bards

If you hadn't noticed above in the example screens, the endeavour sprites have gotten an overhaul. Gone are the days of tiny limbs, expressionless sprites, and amputees (WE HAVE ARMS).

Each race has his or her own natural ability, so keep them in mind when choosing. A human will have natural speed over his counterparts, allowing him to move more spaces per turn. The drawf will have a natural strength, giving him more hit points even at his lowest level. The elf has a natural talent for magic; if he has spells to use, his will be more powerful right out of the box. An orc's massive size grants him a strength bonus too, however his comes in the form of heavy weaponry; where other characters will fail to pick up large items, the orc grabs them with ease.

The classes speak for themselves (weaponry, magic, healer, stealth).

The rest of the designing (clothing and weapons and such) are up to you. Be careful on what sorts of these you give your character, I may have to nerf some stuff if you start out too powerful.

Our Party:

Traeg the Orc Engineer

Name: Traeg
Class: Warrior/Tinkerer

He's the Orc with a knack for inventions. A talented tinkerer who uses his mechanical mindset to build incredible devices. His weapon of choice is a (Magic) Rocket Powered War Axe.

Orc Priest

Name: Orc Priest (?)
Class: Priest

Appears slow and weak, wearing tattered robes over light armor which is probably in similar condition. Carries an axe as a priest's staff. It's probably magic. Nobody can clearly see his face, which is half covered by what looks like an armored mask, and half covered by the hood.

Maverick, The Alchemist

Name: Maverick
Class: Wizard

He's a cousin of the Master Thief Marcus, exiled into this dungeon from a distant land for using prohibited alchemical practices... Or perhaps fake alchemy. His arm relic doesn't use transmutation at all. The only "alchemy" he could do is make potions.

Elli Kurzmann

Name: Elli Kurzmann
Class: Rogue (thief/bard variant)

A charming young lady who grew up in the lower class, she uses her intelligence and friendly looks to score quick cash off of those more well-off than her. She also carries a knife, so if her con doesn't work, she can rob them. She is a nimble woman and relies on dealing quick damage and getting out fast, should she have to fight.
Her choice of attire is usually accentuated by a scruffy overcoat and scarf.

how did you do the magical three-dee effect

This looks amazing, so lets get the ball rolling!
Jack Golem
Rogue
Human

He has his trusty dagger, worn from many adventures.

COOLIO
will make character later

I can never participate in these because of my lack of artistic skills.

Unless someone feels like making an orc with a purple shirt and a white bowler cap for me.

how did you do the magical three-dee effect

It's just rendered in a 3D engine, that's all.

Instead of programming a game or whatever, I just set up a scene and then take a screenshot. It's actually a lot easier than using an image manipulation program, since it becomes even more drag and drop.

Name: Erich Gerhold Wetterman
Class: Wizard (Pyromancer)
Info: A young boy who gets easily angered. In battle he uses a wand with a carved in shank on the bottom of it.

Can I be dragon/robot?!

Name: Narkels
Class: Wizard
Doesn't really specialize in any kind of magic, I guess whatever you'd say is "normal magic", energy blasts and such.
Also loves collecting skulls, he keeps them in his ridiculously long coat.

might wanna correct the op from rouge to rogue

might wanna correct the op from rouge to rogue

Lol oops.

Can I be dragon/robot?!

Of course, just make sure they have one of the perks mentioned (unless you have a really good one) as I'm trying to keep it balanced. Though it is a competition to get gold, its a cooperative team based campaign. The loot will go to whoever sinks the killing blow, and bosses we divy up even.

I thought this was medieval
