The ACA holds healthcare providers to a higher standard. The bill requires that healthcare providers spend 85 cents of every dollar they earn on actual insurance coverage for the consumer. The reason that some premiums may have gone up is because health insurance companies are learning that they are making less profit due to the 85 cent enforcement.
The ACA is not the best option, but it is an option; I have yet to see republicans give their replacement option. Millions of Americans insured and previously uninsured are already benefiting from the ACA. To say we cannot afford it - we can place world wars on a credit card and play host to a military unlike any other, I believe we can provide better health insurance to millions of Americans.
Times are changing, the ways of the old are dying. We cannot keep trudging along using the same ideas. Change must come. America is no longer the greatest country in the world. We've fallen behind (terribly so) in education, healthcare, and average household income. Try fixing that with guns and a bible.
