Used to have a picture of the exact plane he flew, but idk where it is now. :(

id find a picture of my grandfather but I don't know what to search for
all I know is that he was shot down at one point and lived
he also survived lightning strikes

I've considered joining the air force or marines so I could try and fly the supersonic aircraft.

It's a YF-23. It's literally on the tail of the plane. About the fighter jet part, I'm pretty sure this was only an experimental plane/technology demonstrator. It's kinda a shame planes like that tend to just stay there or even better never even be built, but it's understandable.
