I REALLY hope windows 9 isn't designed for/around tablet pcs. they were cool for a while but now they just suck. whats so special about tablet pcs? what can tablet pcs do that a laptop/desktop computer can't do?

You're too young too remember. It was a bad OS that constantly froze and crashed.

The main conceptual problem with 8 was that Microsoft decided to approach the problem of "How can we make desktops/laptops more like tablets" instead of "How can we make tablets more like PC/Desktop.". They tried to make their OS a tablet operating system that worked on a computer; instead of a computer OS that could work on a tablet.

They also decided to scrap the whole idea of local only PCs and want you to make an account to use it for some reason; because always online is amazingly useful right?

I love how it says the have to include a windows 8 style interface and features in the next OS because otherwise they'd break all the programs made for windows 8.
It's funny cause now they're stuck putting that stuff in all future releases.

i don't really have a problem with windows 8

i don't really have a problem with windows 8

it's literally exactly the loving same as windows 7 except it has a tablet-style start menu and a slightly different menu look.

Most people that complain about windows 8 are the people that are still stuck with 7 and can't afford to upgrade or buy a new computer. They resort to bashing the OS and lying about actually having it at one point.
one thing i dislike about windows 8 is mainly its driver signature system. you are required to restart 1 million times to enter some special mode to install unsigned drivers. you need to do that for every driver that is unsigned and if you want to permanently disable it this sytem, it will bug you about it non stop and some things stop working correctly
i hope they get their heads on straight in the future because this was a major forget up

you haven't used windows 8.1 have you?
What is the problem?
For me it's just that it didn't run as smooth as Window 8.1, overall it was just buggy.

the difference isn't in how it looks,
it's how it preforms all around, it just happens to be that Window 8.1, for me, works a lot faster
also it's quite the coincidence that we have the same desktop backround

windows 9 is gonna have convergence.

basically it means it's gonna be for all platforms but 1 release. it will adapt to whatever it's running on.

this is similar to how android works on phones and tablets.
