but the point is to stop them from pirating so they have to pay to get it

but those pirates arent going to pay for it either way.
they either have the benefit to get it for free by pirating or just not get it at all. it doesnt magically convince them to purchase it. to them its just convenience to get something free rather than pay

people who say piracy is stealing are wrong. they are completely different crimes.

i am not pro-piracy and i believe it results it profit loss, however comparing it to theft is dumb. people who say "piracy isnt bad we are just creating more content" are also dumb. it results in profit loss for the creators.

people who say "pirates wouldnt have bought it anyway" are partially right. people often compare the number of pirated products to the number of purchased products, and claim that that is the number of sales they lost. this is untrue. the pirates could be generating ad revenue from commercials, if it was on television, and some people will just pirate something they would've bought.

tl:dr, its not as bad as theft, however it does result in profit loss

i generally will buy a product if i like it enough.

like if my favorite anime costs $20 bucks to buy the first season. then i might buy it even if i have the chance to watch it for free, cos i want to support them to make more good animes.
but if another anime i dont like that much but still want to watch costs the same, i would just not watch it at all if i couldn't watch it for free.

this kind of logic doesnt hut anyone. but unfortunately not everyone works like i do. so i guess i support japan on this one.

to be fair i am anti-anti-piracy i think that trying to enforce the internet doesn't work and while piracy is bad, people should be encouraged to buy products, not scared into creating a black market.

companies that file lawsuits against pirates are idiots and often the backlash from other pirates means they lose even more money.
