Author Topic: "dear white people" the movie that is totally going to do great  (Read 5068 times)

The idea of a satire to is take something to the extreme and blow it of proportion to bring about change. Personally I didn't find it all the funny. Maybe its to show people that racism is still alive and well in different forms. Maybe its to take a shot at social justice warriors. Maybe it takes a shot at everybody.

sorry for doublepost but

Tumblr is going to crap itself over this movie
trust me they have

White people gonna take this to heart.

kimon it's a trailer. the people who make a movie rarely ever have a say in what's put in a trailer

they made their own trailer
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uag2G0J6iqw&list=UUOD_D_0RQM0n_xCqz3WjzJw
its even more one-sided than the official trailer

i mean even upon investigating their channel and social media and stuff, they're either really commited to the satire, or it's really one sided. there's nothing wrong about making a movie about racism against black people, just dont claim it pokes fun at the black people too when there seems to be no visual evidence of this happening thus far. if the stuff they say, which is common belief a lot of the times, is supposed to be satire, they clearly haven't heard of poe's law

i mean seriously the "crazy stuff" the black people say isn't going to register as satire of both sides with a lot of people because, again, it's common belief. it just seems like poor execution.

like seriously actual quote:

"People actually think that Dear White People is a satire of sjws. -_-

Do they think there’s going to be some big plot twist at the end where we’re told that hate breeds more hate or something because they’re going to be disappointed."

Maybe it could be funny, but I will say this.
It's not satire if what you're portraying actually happens.
Poe's law is in full effect here.

You were too late to be as unfunny as these guys
Sorry I'm unfunny :(

"i want to see dear white people so bad but im afraid some dumb angry white person is going to try to shoot up the theater because u know how they shoot things they dont like

schools

people not their skin color"

the audience for this movie seems pleasant

Sorry I'm unfunny :(
people make the "omg im triggered" joke every time something remotely tumblr-esque is posted.

it was never funny but now it's beating a dead horse

yeah its totally popular belief that gremlins is an anti-black movie
calm dude lol

who's laughing?
"where is the lie" whoever wrote the original thing is a roosterweed and encouraging them is loving stupid too

also, the deeper i delve into this (interviews, etc) the more obvious it becomes that they are not aiming the satire at social justice warriors

have you even seen the people talking about the movie like everyone's agreeing with everything they're saying, and from what i can tell the directors do too
(except white people)
