Author Topic: My mom needs a new computer, she and I are willing to build.  (Read 1552 times)

Her current one is unacceptable and it can't run any program, whether it be Microsoft Word 2005 or the built-in games. It's a very old system, from 2000 or 1999.

We're willing to build one, she doesn't want a top of the line extreme gaming machine, she just wants something that she can use for basic applications.

She wants it to be fast, at least for her. Budget is 400 dollars.

go please

I thought I would never hear the forums say that

Also, no netbooks or laptops, has to be a straight-out desktop.

forget walmart, if anything you would get one for bestbuy or some stuff

Ugh, no.. That's crossed off.
if you want something cheap that runs

No, she wants to get more for her money. Prebuilts are crossed off, like I said.

A good office/work computer built is a great budget for 400. It costs less to build anything, period, haha.

Leaves out the cost of a good graphics card.

A very cheap one that is ~$250 in total with parts not including the OS and without a GPU ($300 if you don't count the mail in rebates)

Feel free to improve it/ tell me where I forgeted up majorly.

i like to look at peoples budgets and use it not including a case. psu. or a copy of windows.

400 would still be very very tight lol
