Author Topic: New problem with Xubuntu: Read latest post  (Read 714 times)

I have a notebook someone gave me w/ Win 7 Pro, with 1.6 GHz and 1 GB of RAM. I'm planning to install Xubuntu since it's lightweight, but I don't know if that will work. Got any other ideas?

It's not gonna be for that.

yeah with those specs xubuntu will run just fine on it

With those specs, how does it run Windows 7?

If for some reason even Xubuntu is slow, try swapping out the window manager with Open Box.

You cannot silence the Gentoo.

taking a guess here, you browse /g/ a lot

My almost-falling-face-down-into-my-desk-asleep self thought you were talking about a notebook that you write in.

I would prefer Ubuntu with those specs but maybe I'm crazy.

Nope. I don't go on 4chan. I sometimes lurk the GNU/Linux related subreddits and the Arch Linux forum, but that's it.

Rebumping due to a problem.

Apparently after a while my desktop has disappeared, and now it keeps popping up with errors saying that a system error occured and I reported it via program (entered PW and it sent it).

Only thing I've done recently is built a build of StepMania and installed uTorrent Server.

What's going on?
