dont you guys think people with certain mental issues shouldnt be able to purchase guns? i think they shouldnt be able to depending on what they have.

sounds abusable. The government could just claim people they don't like mentally unstable and impose this on them. :)

well i dont think they should be able to do that unless the consumer has been professionally diagnosed with something serious

Giving a psychopath or a sociopath a gun is probably a bad idea. Giving somebody with schizophrenia is also probably a bad idea. Depression might be a bad idea. As well as other things.
I wouldn't say lower level mental disorders would be that big of an issue, like Asperger's or something, but yeah there should be background checks and restrictions based on them.
