I once considered playing Guild Wars 2.

I also recommend checking out this fellow: http://mmogrinder.net/

A word of warning about MapleStory. You should check out and decide on a premade build. You can play the game by just putting points into whatever skills you like but your char will most likely be underpowered. My char sucked when I played it for a few months. It's also super grindy.

I played Maple when there was only 4 classes, all the new ones have deff ruined it.

I started playing maplestory again yesterday and wtf there are so many classes now when did this even happen?
They added farmville into it somehow too ;-;

Maplestory has definitely gone down the drain since Nexon took over

but you can still play for the nostalgia factor (even though since the Big Bang literally everything has changed)

LOTRO is pretty decent if you're a lord of the rings fan.
Vindictus is good
SWTOR is a must for starwars fans
D&D: neverwinter is also a good one to try.

all of these have features you have to pay for to unlock. LOTRO you have to buy 2 of the classes, and you only get 2 default class slots. And you have to pay a little for mounts. But the cool thing is you can earn the Emoney by completing in game challanges, so if you're really good at saving and really determined you really don't have to spend anything but time to get what you want.

Firefall
Landmark
Planetside 2
EVE Online

i played this one a while back, it was called Mabinogi i think

it was pretty fun i'll admit, as well as free

runescape

no i'm actually kinda serious because that game was the forgetin stuff back in my days as a 9 y/o
Runescape is fun, but it takes alot of grinding to get to the real beef of the game. As in, you have to work an actual in-game job to get anywhere (picking flax, honeycombs, making nails, arrows) which is somewhat silly considering most fantasy worlds are all about raiding dungeons for gold.

On the other hand, there's Fonline, which is like the original Fallout games for the most part, and even uses assets and gameplay from them in a MMO-like environment. But most of the gameplay is the same.

It shut down, but there's a few groups of people who have decided to continue work on it. Of all of them, I'd suggest Fonline 2, but there's also Fonline Reloaded along with a few others.

It's funny because you literally start as an ordinary guy with a crappy sword and a wooden shield.

If you don't mind that it's not fully translated (fan-translation) and will probably take quite a bit of work setting up just to play it, Phantasy Star Online 2 is a brilliant free-to-play MMO.
