Russian Goverment banned the imports from US and EU because both countries have issued sanctions on Russia. And I can tell you that Russia may even benefit from it, though.

Shame for the rest of Europe as it'll hurt a large number of countries and their imports, such as Poland.
Not too much of an issue though for the UK. We don't export lots of fruit/veg to Russia. Our export to Russia isn't particularly much compared to others.
But for the EU fruit/veg export, Russia is their 2nd biggest market after the US.
Anyway, it'll primarily be the Russian people who suffer for their lack of food.
