Author Topic: Tell me your opinons of my Steam review.  (Read 1050 times)

I have written what I think about the game here, and although I do still like the game, I have pointed out a couple of issues in this short review. Tell if you agree or not on what I said.
EDIT: Wow, I just noticed that I accidentally posted this in Off Topic instead of General Discussion. Please move this to General Discussion if you see fit, Badspot.

Well, I'm no good at reviewing reviews, but if there are any reviews of reviews I can review I might be better at that.

my review of this review reviewing john's review is that his review does not accurately review his review.

The in-game servers and content don't have the same variety or atmosphere as they had when I first bought the game 3 or 4 years ago. Although that could just be nostalgia talking, that is, of course, something that drastically affects my relationship and experience with the game.

You mean when the game was littered with camp rps and zombie servers?
There was no decline in variety while there was a incline of add-ons, please don't rate the game based on your creativity.

The engine isn't at all the best (After all, it's more than a decade old. To be more frank, the game engine is virtually ancient.), which puts some signifcant limitations on modders, despite the admittedly incredulous amount of flexibility and ease of the add-on system.

Unfortunately you can't code on a completely different engine in a night, even though it sounds so easy to you it might not be for badspot,
and as we all know people dislike change.

Although there are some good-looking shaders, they are not well-optimised, and were put into the game hastily at the cost of the mapping system that the game had, at the dismay of many players.

What was so loving good about the maps anyways? Its like you wish that in a game where you build, you didn't have to build and you could masturbate instead.
Kinda defeats the purpose right? The shaders are well optimized, that's just something you pulled out of your ass.

The creator of the game, Badspot, has shown little to no interest in actively participating in enriching Blockland's community and playability, and although he does argue that the players are very much capable of expanding the enjoyment of the game, the players alone are not as impactful as an update from the creator of the game that would allow more capacity to do what you want with the game, regardless of the level of quality and initiative of the said community at hand.

Well here we go again, the enriching argument that badspot needs to loving spoon-feed you like your a god damn infant. He even tells you that if you don't know how to make add-ons, you don't. There is a help board and a coding board for you if you really feel like you need help, he doesn't need to raise you like a child when he is obviously busy working on the god damn game. He sold you the game and that's all he owes you.

I admit that these are both things that I have paraphrased from other people.

I didn't say that I or other people are incapable of adding content, I said that Badspot's participation would make it much easier and allow more people/inspire people to add content. An example would be the Event system. Before, people wouldn't be able to express themselves through their builds the same way without having to learn the slow-as-molasses horror of TS.

You're right. Badspot is the only person who is able to make the most extreme changes to enhance modders' abilities. Unfortunately, he's taken a "forget it" approach to all modders' suggestions. Badspot bitches about how he wants his game to be community-sustained yet he's not actually meeting modders' needs. I've felt personally effected by his stubbornness in this regard.
Hopefully no one spins your words as if you were saying that Badspot should spoonfeed modders... oh wait.

What was so loving good about the maps anyways? Its like you wish that in a game where you build, you didn't have to build and you could masturbate instead.
The point of what I said about maps was that Badspot took a game feature in exchange of another that isn't accessible by everyone (my computer definitely can't run minimum shaders without a horrible FPS), despite community detestment.

A stuff community avoids arguments.

Thank you.

its fine except the fact that everything has been addressed before in other bad reviews

I don't know about you, but that just makes his points more believeable. The more people point out a flaw, the more likely it's true.
Then again, that doesn't apply for things like bandwagoners or fanboys of a competitor.

Still don't think it's fair to not say a game is worthwile if you've spent 15+ whole days playing it.

I purchased a stuff game the other day not worth buying and I played it for 30 minutes.
Whatever your gripes with the developer or whatnot, for a finished game that you've played for 375 total hours I don't see how it's possible to not recommend it as a game.
