Author Topic: [VIDEO] Ambient Lighting Method Taught by Jam Jar  (Read 2341 times)

Annoyed with the limit of how many lights you can see and how everything even a bit dark looks far? Well this might be a nice workaround

Thanks Jam Jar for discovering that nice trick, I'll do a tutorial once I have the time, but one thing for sure it's that it only works if you have a colorset with an invisible paint and Eksi's lights.

Also make sure to watch it in HD for best experience...? I don't know the scenes there are quite dark so yeah.

It does work with ambient lights too! Oh and also if your paint is invisible in the colourset, paint it with the pearl or chrome paint effect and it will give the brick a visible wire frame; otherwise it's almost impossible to see and quite a lot harder to work with :p

I've noticed that the ambient lights are way less efficient and darker than Eksi's, yes I tried both

It is indeed useful to light up a large builds in dark environment!

This could be very useful, I would like that tutorial soon.

It would be cool if it weren't for the face that I had no idea where you were going.
Relying on lighting on that would be confusing and then some.

Id advise upping the brightness on the maps direct lighting.

Never mind. Didn't know it held on the "old method" for so long.
So, what method and why can't I have it?

ive been using that since forever.
its used on misty shoal too to get better lighting

Video says that a tutorial is coming "later".
So I assume they are gonna hold onto it for a bit longer.
Cause, you know... patents or some stuff....

Looks really nice. Props to jam jar for discovering this.

Is it a tedious process to set these lights up?

It's easy actually

ive been using that since forever.

Though I always thought the flare lights alone counted as actual lights, meaning they'd contribute to reducing light visibility.

New?
I've been doing this for ages.
