It'd definitely be fun to tear into the game and play around with it, but it'd compromise the integrity of it as a game even further. In an RPG you usually commit a lot of time to building your character, which wouldn't carry over between servers, meaning you're gonna stick to a single server, which probably won't stay up as reliably as the main one. So it'd be taking a community that already has an average player count that someone with severe oligodactyly could count on one hand and spreading it even thinner. Most people would probably just stick to their own servers where they can give themselves a billion gold and can throw dynamite without getting charged with murder.

There's also a more practical issue - AoT doesn't have a decent system to handle downloading content files from server like Blockland does. Servers that make use of a lot of custom content to attract users will collectively make a mess out of the data folders of anyone who spends long enough waiting for all the files to download.

I can help with the coding aspects of it if you're really going to do this.

Sorry for not responding to this yet. I understand that it took also way too long to join a server in the free version of Blockland vanilla with many custom modifications in the server. But I think that a large add-on database for Age of Time will be fine, where people can grab the add-ons in one time. The add-ons should become .zip files in the next update like Blockland has. This makes modding easier when it is all collected in the Add-ons folder.

It would be interesting to see what players could do with the game if badspot decided to do such a thing.

lol literally no one plays this game anymore
there's no point

It could stir up some activity at the least.
