Author Topic: Top Gear Test Track  (Read 2242 times)

Hello! I'm currently working on creating the "Top Gear Test Track" from, obviously, top gear. This is a very early screen shot, because I just wanted some input on how accurate it should be, and what I should do with the surrounding area. I'm considering leaving the runways as they are, but I feel detail would also be a good choice.

Here's a picture:

In the future, I'm considering starting a youtube series where we test blockland cars on the track.

feel free to give me constructive criticism on how to improve, but bear in mind this is a very early version.

pretty cool, needs cones though to show route and all the tire walls and lines

pm me and ill help work on this if you want

The server's up now if you want to stop by.

Funny story; I actually have been on the top gear track. I live about 40 minutes from it. When I was younger I appeared in one of those plane crash documentaries and they used the plane in the background you see sometimes. When my mum came to pick me up she had to drive through part of the track :)

vehicles will glitch less on modterrain, but I guess if the track is flat it doesn't matter as much. I suggest having terrain surround the whole thing, and it doesn't even have to be super detailed. just make sure it goes all the way around

Bit off topic but I replied like 2 minutes ago lol

Oh by the way on the track is a yellow line which marks the stig's perfect race line

Yeah, I was looking at that on the google street view - they do a streetview of the track racing the stig. it's kinda hilarious. but yes, I agree, adding the tires and the lines would definitely improve the raceway

The surrounding buildings are also empty offices and small empty terminal buildings (that's where we shot one of the terminal scenes of us boarding the plane)
There's also a parking lot next to the gate if I remember correctly, which they had some of the cars you see in the episodes which they have to build a vehicle.

Yeah I'm not sure exactly how many of the buildings i'll make, and whether they'll just be facades or not. I suppose we'll see.

Sense Furdle mentioned that, Arch maybe add a wreckage version of the track... lol

Then you need to do Blockland stars in reasonably priced cars.

jeep.

to be fair, they're all empty offices so they could all be facades.

Dunno if you have it, but on Forza 4 there is a Top Gear track, so you can get a pretty good close up look at it. Would help you in knowing where precisely to place barriers and the nearby terrain.

On google maps, the street car actually drives around the track with the stig, so it's a good reference.

I agree, that would be cool. But how to get a hold of them, and whether they would agree, idk.
