Author Topic: do you guys actually laugh when you say "lol"  (Read 4447 times)

When I'm reading a conversation I had with someone out loud I say "eh oh el." "Lawl" has been ruined for me by the people who actually say that IRL. Someone saying "lawl" IRL is grounds for me to avoid them from that point on.

if i say lol just like that i usually chuckle, or im just saying it because idk what else to say therefore i am not chuckling

in all caps im laughing IRL

if i start to type random letters im dying
basically

This is my personal legend:

lawl/LAWL = k
lol = Ha
xD = Haha
LOL = Hahah
rofl/ROFL = HAHAHAHAHA
lmao/LMAO = HAHAHAHAHA
roflmao/ROFLMAO = Kill me
LOLOLOLOLOL = Yeah hah ok

If I say "lol" it's either a chuckle or a deep exhalation.
If I say "LOL" however I'm laughing somewhat hard.

"lol", for me, means it was kind of humorous, and "LOL" means I laughed a bit more than usual. Anything else that seemed even funnier I usually express in somewhat unintelligible caps.

lol is a "lol forget you" type of thing
LOL is a sensible chuckle

i don't laugh
i chuckle
lord help

When I use "lol" it's either an acknowledgement that they said something and that I'm listening (rather than k or something that seems dismissive, lol seems engaged) or if something they've said made me exhale sharply through my nose (less than a laugh, but still laughing). I'll use ROFL in caps or something when I actually laugh.

pretty much this

i say it after pretty much everything i say lol

æ makes the aa sound in cat
if you pronounce it like that you're weird
not in icelandic
sæll (hello f. to male) = sight-l

Not usually. "Lol" for me usually is just more of a grin.
