Police said the protesters threw molotovs, news reports and the protesters say things to the contrary.

You say there are no peaceful protests. The current police chief in charge, the protesters, AND the media say there are.

Sure seems like military camo to me. I know it may be hard for you to understand this but if you're a cop wearing woodland camo in a urban environment and holding a DMR does not send the "policeman" image very well.

Also I'm sorry I called it an assault rifle, I'll just laboriously type out semi-automatics AR-15 everytime. Want to know a fun fact? US Army service rifles don't even have a fully-automatic setting, and 99% of the time nobody uses the burst-fire setting either.

Local town and city police answer to governments of their city.
The Sheriff is a branch of the County.
State Troopers/Highway Patrol is a branch of the state.
FBI/CIA/DEA/generic agency is a branch of the federal government.
