Author Topic: ferguson police tear gas peaceful protesters  (Read 31342 times)

Due to the nature of human beings who are against a group, or just want blatant justice against someone who killed someone in self-defense or something, these are things you must know: a video camera does not lie, a sound recording does not lie, a DNA sample most likely does not lie. Humans do. Humans can ask favors of others, humans can be bribed.

It can be used to aid in a case, but CANNOT be used alone if you want to prove someone guilty.

source: study a little bit of law and common sense.
ur a cool cat *smooches sensually*

basically this. since everyone has a different perspective on how events unfold and the appearances of individuals its virtually impossible to have a bunch of eyewitness testimonies that match to the letter

this is important in criminal cases because all evidence needs to point to a single outcome

yeah don't mind me I'm just studying law and actually have a background understanding of this stuff
lol Reminds me of the Key & Peele skit on a pegasus sighting.

do explain how
They can be pretty unreliable. Lets say you were with a friend at an outdoor restaurant. You are having a good time and two seconds later you hear multiple bangs and the sound of shattered glass hitting the ground from inside a bakery from across the street. This alerts you and you swivel your head behind to see what happens. You see men running out of the store who appear to be the culprits while the people inside were still screaming. The men take off into a white van whose license plate was removed and went off north and took a left down the corner.

The police arrive to ask questions. From your memory you believe you saw 3 men. Man #1 looked tall, red tee shirt, tan skin, fat, faded jeans, dark hair, a bushy beard, and sandals. Man #2 had a white tee shirt, beige shorts, red tenis shoes, white skin, and blonde hair. Man #3 looked white, had a purple shirt, long hair, sun glasses, and was average height.

However this all happened within just a few seconds, then you might think wasn't there a fourth person running into the Van? At second thought you now believe that Man #1 had a tattoo on his arm, and you believe man #3 was actually a woman. You also think that man #2 might have had a mullet. You also tell them you heard 4 gunshots, but then you think "what if there there were 6 gunshots".  What if that was a full auto gun? I think I saw one of them holding an uzi, no wait it was an ak, no wait it was a wooden rifle or shotgun.

Then the police ask other people and your friend and they get completely different versions of what happened. Some say they heard 4 gunshots, others say 2. Some say they saw assault weapons, others say they saw shotguns/handguns. Some say they were all black or all white, others say it was 2 whites and a Hispanic man.

Just consider the fact that human memory is rarely 100% accurate, and that is not good in criminal cases where every single detail counts

I almost wish I remembered some more stuff from psychology about eyewitness bias

also harm I love you

Destroyer, DrenDran, Harm, Myself, Mikoyan (I think) are all in training or are emergency services workers

My uncle is a cop and gave me a lot of textbooks on law, which is as close as I'll ever get considering the career track I already put myself on. :V
