Author Topic: Safe to use Support_Updater after Malicious Download?  (Read 762 times)

I'm not sure if I should use Support_Updater anymore due to its recent update to gamemode_slayer that deleted my screenshots and caused me to re-install blockland (more on that here).

Is it safe to use this add on? It seems like it could be useful if it's fixed so that this won't happen again.

I'll click 'No' for now:

Yes. The problem was never support_updater, but gamemode_slayer. Zapk was hosting for Greek, and someone hijacked the add-on to include malicious code and then published an update. Most likely it was Zapk, but we don't know. It was quickly removed however.

how do we know that whoever did it can't do it again?

Just don't download updates for slayer right now and you should be fine.

if i may ask, where and what is the malicious code? a quick edit can probably write that out.
