I'm sure a lot of things have "been around since the dawn of man" but that doesn't make them the status quo.
Roughly 1% of Americans identify as gay or bi.
It's a very small minority. Even if it's been around for a long time.
How dense do you have to be to conflate "has been around forever" with "is the norm"?

Gays aren't universally detested. There's plenty of places these days where it's perfectly okay to be gay. I don't have an issue with that. But I do have an issue with the oppression Olympics. Chances are if you go to any college/university in the north overt intolerance will be virtually non-existent.

I'd like you to define "normal". Does it have to be majority? I think its just the lack of change. It has become static and unchanging, therefore considered status quo. How can something be unusual or weird if everything has been the same for a period of time? In fact, by today's standards, things should be less weird.

Sure but it isn't 100%. It won't be near that until the old generation and stupid people die out and people become accepting. Even in vastly more accepting locations there are always those who would berate and look down upon homoloveuals, and openly voice it. Its still scary for people, obviously.
