well it pretty much depends on how you feel about saving up money, if you get urges to spend the money on something else, try to think a lot about what youre planning to buy and how much you want it, and if you're just impatient, do the opposite, keep saving money but dont think about it, focus on other things

Speeding up usually involves doing extra/doing way more than your required amount of chores. My mom pays me two dollars extra on my allowance if I mow the lawn, which is not one thing I have to do. And to be patient, distract yourself and forget you even wanted a 3DS.
