Awesome thread, I've been working with inventor for years, I own it. I have autocad too

you have to admit 2000$ is a LOT of money for software, no matter how helpful it might be. you can do half of the things 3ds max can do for 0$

"Free*" means that you get all the features of the professional version but you can't actually use it to make a profit.
