why is huh... I must have an incorect understanding of timezones.
http://www.timeanddate.com/time/map/The UK is normally at GMT+0, which is also UTC+0.
However, the UK uses daylight saving time, and currently we are in the summer.
We currently run on BST (British Summer Time) which is GMT+1
The time in the UK is currently 3:47am (BST), or without DST it would be 2:37am
Typically as you travel East across the planet (with the UK as the centre of the globe) the timezones increase by 1 hour. So Italy is ahead of the UK, and India is ahead of Italy, and Australia is ahead of India.
As you travel West across the planet the timezones decrease by 1 hour. So Greenland is behind the UK, and mainland USA is behind Greenland, and Alaska is behind mainland USA.
But you have to take into consideration what those lands themselves consider their time to be, as they may use Daylight Saving Time too.
