Author Topic: So apparently my friend who has barely played Blockland wants to...  (Read 2669 times)

make a game similar to it.

Yeah, I'm not too sure about this. After talking about sandbox games for a while, I mentioned Blockland and a large discussion started. Somehow, he got the idea that the game was dead and it would be good to make a game similar to it. I don't know what to think, I said I'd help him, but I'm a little too lazy to work on a project like this. I know that he's a great programmer, it may be O.K. to call him a professional.

He's going to use Unity for it, and we're going to call it PixeldIn. I want to use a modified Quake 3 engine though. If this idea is not considered more than a joke, we're going to start real development on it.

So, what are your ideas on this? Would you play it if we ever finish it?

Also, we're not going to borrow anything from Blockland. We might incorporate similar elements into the game (Minigames, RTB clone, etc...), but nothing from the game will actually be used.

So, /discuss.

Is his name Kalphiter?

All I can say is

A game developer that actually wants to work on a game like this.

ill try it if theres a free alpha/beta version to try out

Is his name Kalphiter?
No. His Skype name is Blake, not to be confused with Blake1.

He has never actually played Blockland before trying the demo a couple of months ago. He only had a quick glance, but he looked at the website and some of the servers that were being hosted and thought it was cool. I told him most of the basics. I was going to give him one of my keys... Then I thought about getting revoked.

He sounds like a right mud.

It'll bomb.
Probably. Most of the stuff he has developed has worked out and became an actual piece of software. He's probably asleep now, so I'm going to research more about the Quake engine.

I can guarantee this project will be worked on, and we will most likely release a version, but I cannot guarantee that it will ever be finished.

Pixeldin?
Sounds like a 2D game to me at first glance.
Good luck anyway.

All the best to you and your friend, hope it works out, would be interesting to see a (decent) game in unity or quake 3.

i'd say if you really want to then go for it.
