that image personifies unity so well

i know right. ioquake3 would have worse graphics, but with some tweaking and some updates, we could make it look good.

I was more appalled by the modeling

lol unity isn't gonna cut it

i dont like people who always talk about what they are going to do.

the first time anyone should hear of it is when there is some kinda progress made.

Don't say Unity can't be pretty!
But even if your friend is using Unity, I bet he couldn't afford to make it look nearly that good.

A single hobbyist would not be able to make Unity look good while still maintaining decent performance.

That's pretty much what I meant, minus the budget part.

Just use UE4 or the Cube2/Tesseract engines. Or even the Doom 3 engine.

With Tesseract half of the game is already made for you lol.

everyones acting like a forgettard and that makes unity ashamed to be alive. :c

So, because people have an opinion, they're now forgettards?

Unity is not the perfect engine. If you've got skill, you can make some cool stuff with it, but when you compare your options, there are other engines with greater support and tools, not even looking at the graphics capability.

It's good for student projects, but not for actual games. Take some examples like StarForge, Only If, Air Control, the list of god-awful games goes on.

EDIT: There was ONE game that was supposedly really good, and it was made in Unity. I can't remember the name, though. Found it, it was the Forest.

What about surgeon simulator

You could make that screenshot from unity look good too with "some tweaking and some updates"...
