And spewing nonsensical misspelled abbreviated words is a pain in the eye for everyone else.

The solution isn't to disable e-tard, it's to stop typing like a douchebag.

Then just ignore them. It does not bother me at all, because I just ignore it. No one can offend/bother you without your consent. Trying to force people to conform never has and never will solve anything. Anybody could just type yy instead of y and then just completely dodge the e-tard filter.

I would actually ban someone for doing that. Though I can't imagine ever needing to, because that kind of commitment to being a moron would inevitably leave me with plenty of other choices for ban reasons. The filter is there to help, you know, teaching people to tap two extra keys and have their messages sound so much better. It's not stomping over any legitimate spin on written English, just an incredibly illegitimate one.

If you type like an idiot, you deserve to be treated like an idiot. That's my stance on this: if you chose to be an idiot and type using "wat, r, u, b, 2" or other such nonsense you deserve to be annoyed by the filter.

This exactly. If adding a "wh" is too much work, then going into the menu and disabling e-tard is too much work. And neither are.

The majority of the things e-tard blocks are accidental things, like wh y instead of why, which is why it is just annoying. There are not really that many people who type like that very often, and the only times I see it is when people are joking around, and do not type like that most of the time (stuff like fake rage and misquotes for the sake of comedy). If you end up with an issue with it on your server, you could enable it, but it is not a huge issue, and not that wide spread, and thus it would likely be better to be disabled by default, as most server do not have an issue with it, or they would have e-tard enabled (which most of them have it disabled).
