Sure, that may be a personal motivation, but what is physically happening in the Middle East is totally different. I'm sure both of them thought of that and is part of why they did it, but from a solve-the-problem-with-CIA viewpoint, they're different approaches.

I feel like the CIA may be blown up to be a problem more than it should. But i'm probably wrong on that. All i know is i feel there might be a smarter and cost efficient way to deal with the issue. I'm definitely not trying to spout isolationist stuff here but i feel like if we were less involved in the first place a lot of heartache could have been avoided.

I totally agree, and from now on we should stop getting involved, but we've been involved for over a decade. You can't just stop being involved and get away with it; Obama literally just tried this a few months ago and all it did is increase the terrorist threat to the United States.

Yes, although at the very least, Obama presumably isn't too interested (or at least as interested as possible) in his own self image, since he can't be re-elected.
Any image gained is pretty much just for his party and successor as presidential candidate.
