Author Topic: What building style do you use?  (Read 1990 times)

Out of curiosity(and some things I've noticed in general on my time watching others build things), I noticed there's different styles that all variate between users, but there's also some more professional-looking ones that some seem to use a lot. So, I wondered what building styles people used.
Thus, this thread. So, guys:
What building style do you use? Is it one you've seen others use? Is it a mishmash of other's styles mixed up out of the best parts? Is it something only you have ever used? What would you call it, if you could call it something? Try to post examples of it, if you can.
I'm honestly really interested to hear responses about something like this, partially to see what's used most often, and to give others ideas on what to do as a builder.

i throw down bricks until it looks like something

What do you mean "what style?" I build what I am trying to build. If I want to be original, I am original. If I want to be a part of someone else's build, I build along their style guidelines. I am always on the lookout for techniques I find in other builds, but I also try and draw inspiration from real life and my imagination.

I think he meant, broadly speaking, minimalistic vs. detailed, and everything inbetween.

By 'style', I mean techniques, I suppose.

This too. It's more of a 'how do you paint, and what are your paintings generally like' sort of question, to phrase it using different terms.

Arizona residential architecture.
Idk what the real architectural look/style's name is, but I just call it "AZ style".

I think I'm one of the only people that actually build this way.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

slam as much detail into it then go "oh stuff" when the brick count is ridiculously high for one room

My answer is all of them. The vast majority of my building experiences are working on a project for somebody else. I use their techniques. When I build without a guideline, things tend to be extremely abstract.

I build really slow compared to most people to make sure it looks nice and fits in

Hah, even tho that might have* been a joke, I literally do that.

most of my stuff ends up looking like this

grey houses with black roofing
only a few rooms

my building style is more big and blocky, rather than a lot on minor details

Place a few bricks and hope it looks good.

i make a house, it then turns into a pile of complete stuff, my roofs are made up of 1x1x8s stacked ontop of eachother in the shape of illuminati triangle
