Author Topic: Everything on my computer is corrupted and unreadable [Solved]  (Read 778 times)

Hey, forums, I seem to have some kind of issue on my computer. Everything is read-only.
If I go into a folder and uncheck read-only, it immediately sets itself back to read-only.
I did a scan with windows defender and it told me that it detected malware.

What do, forums? I don't want to do a system restore!

Okay something is wrong
EVERYTHING on my computer is corrupted
And I can't install or delete anything

What do I do D:

EDIT:
I was wrong. The problem we with the hard drive itself. My computer asked me if I wanted to fix the problem by restarting, and it worked.

Did you remove it?
Yes. It fixed nothing.

get malwarebytes
I can't. It tries to create a temp file and says that "the directory is corrupted and unreadable."

get malwarebytes

Do this ^

If you have another computer nearby,

Install it onto a pen drive (USB flashdrive) and plug it into your broken computer.
Im not so firmiliar with how malwarebytes works but I know it works p well.

Also, why didnt you have a virus protection program in the first place?

Its stupid to have a program that only Detects them and doesnt fix.

If you cant do any of that, and you have an installation disk of your OS (Assuming its Windows)

Boot the CD/Flashdrive whatever you have, and do Repair.

If you dont have a CD, you can buy them at Staples or Radioshack (I believe)

You can also buy them on Ebay if you have another computer, assuming you do since your posting.

Wild guess that you're in the process of a ransomware activation.

I also advise asking a real malware advice forum instead of a lego forum

Most likely this. It's also very probable that you've now destroyed your only way to pay out of it as well. Eh, you'll probably live. Get MBAM on a flash drive.

Hope you have your data backed up.

create a bootable cd/usb with a recovery tool, see if you can recover any data you want and try reinstalling the os
if everything is corrupted then the virus probably sits inside the files aswell
be careful because if it infected any exes that you need then youre forgeted
