Author Topic: A question to SSH server owners.  (Read 296 times)

I recently forwarded the port 22 on my server.
I have password login turned off so you have to use a key to authenticate.
How likely is it for someone to break in with a brute force attack?
The key is a 2048 bit RSA key stored on my laptop and phone.

If you're worried about someone brute forcing a 2048 bit key then you don't know how that kinda stuff works. you're safe unless there's a backdoor in the software.

That's why I asked.

I doubt there's a backdoor in OpenSSH, so I guess I'm safe. Thanks.

Just corroborating what Ipquarx said. SSH keys are incredibly secure.
