Author Topic: The next version of Windows is "Windows 10"  (Read 3538 times)

They're going to have to use strong loving magic to make my upgrade from 7.

Wow. Im so happy that the layout still looks like a phone.
Man, I love that..
I like the flat look. If you don't like it, install a theme or something.

let's all do educated guesses! (aka stuff i read on the internet already)

if you look closely from left to right, yes they are replacing windows phone with just windows 10.

this is how microsoft is going to give us our desktop back as well as keeping their small but steady tablet base.

no, it doesn't look like a phone...unless you unplug your keyboard and mouse. windows WILL know that you have a keyboard and mouse on the system and will enable desktop mode. if you unplug, it will change over to the touch mode.

multiple desktops, convergence, and continuum is all scratching the surface of windows 10.

i'm just happy they're doing good with nadella than balmer. balmer can forget up the l.a. clippers now and not microsoft.

The joke was that 8.1 is only .1 of a version above 8.
So the joke is you don't know how versions work..?

So basically stick with windows 7

So basically stick with windows 7

na i'm on 8.1

wayy faster and less clunkier than 7.

plus microsoft will stop shipping 7 on halloween but will support it for another few years.

If people want to keep using a dying version of windows let them.

You realize there are still XP and Vista users right? Do you honestly except everyone to just move on to the next OS?

Windows 10 looks p good, but I certainly won't be an early adopter until compatibility starts rolling out.

consumer version yes.

i'll get the tech preview and run it in vbox tho.

well uh
at a certain point, yes.

an old OS will be left behind. people stop caring as much about compatibility for it, and the drawbacks and vulnerabilities will be left gaping if it's old enough

even now, it's very common for there to be a compatibility cutoff for versions older than windows 7. this is because some basic components were changed/updated in windows 7; older versions of windows will not have access to that updated component unless some kind of compatibility is deliberately put forth. if you insist on using a decade+ old, abandoned operating system, don't except the world to wait for you. XP is now dead as far as the average consumer is concerned. vista is next in line. life goes on.

I actually kind of liked the windows 8 start menu
I hope there's an option to use that too

I just got Windows 7 2 or 3 months ago...
*sighs*

so the xbox one runs a more blatant version of windows now

Adding onto this, you also must keep in mind that some people stick with, say, XP because their computer won't let them upgrade theo OS further.
