The goal is to get x points in each stage as quickly as possible. There are obviously multiple ways of doing this; some faster than others.

Playing the game faster comes from multiple factors: Getting a good score, lag reductions, camera placement (which effects movement), exiting the stage at the correct times, menuing correctly, spamming the B button, etc...
