Author Topic: Admin Applications [Script]  (Read 25632 times)

make it so that players can request admin applications to any of the admins from either mod to SA
if the admin declines he gets no app
please add this
(will be in f2 menu)
You mean allow people to apply for moderator?
You could make it have a different level of minimal power required (ex: admin and above)
It wouldn't make any sense to let anyone below super admin approve applications, because admins making other people admins sounds like a bad idea.

what I mean is to let non admins ask the host or lower to get admined (can be limited to moderators and up, normal admin and up, super admin, and host)
also if the person wants to apply for SA they have to pass a hard test

What are you trying to say

I think he wants moderators, admins, and super admins able to approve applications. Which is a terrible idea.

I'd rather have this as an option

Perhaps Super Admins. That might be a good idea so the host wouldn't have to always be present to respond to apps.

Must be because:

Okay, will be fixed for the next version.

How to open the GUI? I'm confused..

How to open the GUI? I'm confused..
It's a bind command. It only opens if the server has it.

If you are not able to review apps, then you are only able to apply.

The server i'm on runs it. }{Falco}{1 has the add-on, I have it installed, but no bind.

Maybe let the host pick certain people to allow to review applications(Perhaps with the requirement of that person being a super admin)? That way not all Super Admins can review applications.

Well it's really my computer's fault that it does not have the font. I've downloaded the font now and it works fine now.

Go to Options > Controls. The bind is under the Admin Applications category(which I strongly disagree with).

Okay, yeah that's a good idea. Perhaps we can save a whitelist of approved Super Admins selected by the host in prefs.cs. And it might be a good idea to set the font to something default anyway. I thought the Calibri font was default, but even Furling had the same issue.

I'm also open to using the GUI category for the keybind, but I think most players are accustomed to looking for the keybind in it's own category, which is why I chose to stick that. I would have a hard time finding it myself. But, it doesn't matter for me, I'm open to changing it back.

Were you admin or super admin on his server? Also, did you try restarting Blockland after installing it? If you already have an admin position, it won't open the GUI. Also, you have to restart the game if you download it while the game is running.

Is anyone else having issues opening the form GUI? Please let us know.

If we let other people besides the host review applications, we'll have to send the list of applications and the applications to the clients from the server, upon request. This should also fix the list not updating on dedicated servers.

I finished the new parsing system for the applications. New lines now work correctly.

EDIT: Also, might I ask why the person's name gets put in quotes in the application?

Furling messaged me about a concern he had regarding Super Admins responding to apps. He said it might not be a good idea because it might be abusive. What do y'all think?

Okay, great. And no real reason, I just kept it like that. The applicant's name is never actually referenced, and it does make it slightly easier to distinguish.

That's why we allow the host to select certain people to respond to applications. Not super admins. If it is abused then it's the host's fault. I was thinking that it's a good idea to let me than the host respond to applications for servers like Pecon's Boss Battles, which has a large reviewing team.

Maybe even include an option to make it so that they can only approve the people as admins and not super admins.
