Author Topic: Ever Been Caught in a Lie?  (Read 6952 times)

I'm just wondering because I just was. It's only happened to me about once or twice.

So I'm asking have you ever blown your cover or made up a cover that could easily be blown by a sneeze?

What happened, and how did you cope? Were you able to repair the ruse cruise, or did it sink like the Titanic?

uh...

yah.

I was playing Skyrim, and my dad was behind and he saw it. I didn't switch windows in time. :( I somehow got my parents to believe it was some random game that I had found when searching through my files, and I couldn't find it again. When they left the room, I started downloading LOTR online, and said I'd found it. They believed me. lol.

I feel bad about it though. Ugh. :(

I am usually very good at lying so if I am caught I just make myself seem innocent and it rarely comes out badly.

This one time I lied about a personal event that happened in my life and my friend found out, I think they were indirectly hinting I lied but to this day I haven't admitted it

It's... complicated.

It's not that it was Skyrim, but the fact that it was a game they hadn't said I could play. Like I said, it's complicated.

Cringe so hard at that level of parental control. I'm three years older than you and I can literally do anything and everything I want -- I don't even live at home so my parents have NO idea what I do unless I tell them.

Nope, or maybe I have and no one ever decided to tell me when they did catch me.

oh stuff he's back

Definitely yes, OP. I usually try not to deliberately lie, but when I do lie it is usually because I'm casually saying something without paying attention. Once I realize I'm lying, I cannot help making it worse and then I feel bad when I get away with it.

My parents (especially my mom) still try to ruthlessly control everything I do even though I'm of legal age. They don't let me do anything if it has excessive swearing in it (usually movies, music, and video games, but usually more lenient in terms of video games). My mom still always wants to watch PG-13 movies with me and/or my brother who is just a couple years younger.

Extremely relevant to this thread, my parents are also very pushy when it comes down to private matters (my dad not so much anymore). When I was 12, I woke up from a dream about a girl that I knew at church (no, I didn't get laid so don't ask) that made me "discover my heteroloveuality". The second I was out of bed, I got on the computer to search on "How to get a girl to notice you" and stuff like that. My dad came across the search history, they called me back to their room, and immediately started to heavily interrogate me on who it was. I kept saying "Nobody" or "I don't know" to their questions. They then proceeded to rattle off the names of every girl that they knew I had any contact with in the past year, and even when they named the girl I was interested in, I kept saying no. That talk lasted for three hours, and I have not once ever gone to my parents regarding loveual relationship since that day six years ago.

But I gotta say that they don't know about some of the things I do. I have a couple songs with spotty strong words in them, I'm a member here, and hang with friends who curse like sailors every now and then. For crying out loud, mom, you allow me to go to public school where I'm actually enveloped in an environment where I'm hearing words from context and still not using them but you somehow find that me simply seeing their spelling on the Internet is NOT okay??

I do understand that they are still able to enforce rules that I follow since I still live in their house and I do voluntarily follow those rules to keep from tension, but I think some of them are completely overboard.

i can't lie because whenever i do my lips begin smirking. it's quite handy. :^)
