Author Topic: Is this even legal?  (Read 1465 times)

Vikings are cooler than Columbus.
Because they had 100% aryan DNA.

It's a holiday because a bunch of white Americans decided that kids needed a cool white-skinned role model.
It's a holiday because it initiated the new-world craze, although we put too much emphasis on Colombus and not the following adventures of white people travelling to the new world and banging hot native chicks.

why would that be illegal

why would that be illegal
working hard should be ILLEGAL
thats the rule

is next wednesday normally a holiday?
yes - Then don't go to school. If it's regularly a holiday and the government hasn't changed anything, you don't have to go
no - Then you should go, assuming you didn't march. If it werent for the sunday event you would have to go anyway. Skipping the day would be equivalent to skipping class and it will more than likely be counted as an absence.

No forget that bullstuff.

Tell them they can't force an extremely controversial holiday on to you. Tell them you refuse to celebrate the enslavement of the Natives. I mean last I checked, you have the right to have your own beliefs, and forcing their beliefs on you is against your freedoms and America and the Constitution and Beer.

Just say you were sick if you don't want to go.

Get a parent's note. They can't make it an unexcused absense.

I'm honestly thinking Setro is bullstuffting here, but that's just me.

Christopher landed in America in 1492
The Vikings landed before him and left
The Native Americans were there before the vikings
Why is it a holiday? Don't ask me.
pretty sure the chinese fit into that equation too

It's ridiculous to me that people are against Columbus Day. The reason we celebrate Columbus Day isn't because his 'discovery' resulted in the genocide and enslavement of an entire continent worth of people, but because if he hadn't been a dumbass and stumbled across America we would not be here today. Yo, guess what, people get unfairly treated and killed all the time. Just because you're happy he found it so you can live here doesn't mean you're supporting genocide.

Are you giving me sass because I have the same opinion as you? What was I supposed to do, just quote you instead of adding any useful details to my position?
