I tried to pick two Pink Floyd albums that are the most similar for this. Animals seems to be more widely known, but I really think Meddle is just as good, if not better.
Meddle has Fearless, which is, in my opinion, the best song out of the two albums. It also has Echoes, which is amazing as well. A Pillow of Winds is also a great, calming song, with a bit of a dark side to it. One of These Days, the opening song to Meddle is intense, and contrasts really well with the calm songs that follow it. I've seen other albums do this sort of thing, where they start off with something fast and intense, and then there's a sudden calm that eventually builds up.
Meddle was the really the first great album, in my opinion, released by Pink Floyd. You can hear parts, especially in Echoes, that sound like the beginnings of what was to come in Dark Side of the Moon.
