This won't happen.
Tell him not to come back until he can just be himself instead of trying too hard to be an unlikeable stuffhead to fit in or be accepted or whatever other reason he had for acting like that. He's his own man (boy), he can't go around using the excuse "the forums changed me :(" unless he's simultaneously willing to admit that he completely lacks strength of character, identity or personality in every way, shape or form.
If you can't be yourself because you're too worried about fitting in or not having a hard time then you're a sad, weak individual who will have no shortage of problems in life, problems on an even greater scale than you'd ever experience by just being yourself, then you will never get any sympathy or kindness from me
