Author Topic: Is it normal to get really nervous when people take a while to text back?  (Read 1613 times)

I get really bad anxiety when I am texting someone (generally someone I care for lol) and they take a while to respond.

Is this normal?

Yes

you are contemplating the possible emotions the other side is feeling. You do not know what these are, so you assume the worst.

Talking face to face is so much better

I don't do much texting, but I'd say no... Not everyone is tied to their phones 100% of the time.

most of the time it's because they're occupied with something.

I've become like really comfortable with this person in person lol; texting is just strange.

I understand that, I just assume the worst and stuff.

im to busy to wait longer then about 10 seconds. that stuff goes back in my pocket and knowing i have a reply i still wait like 5 min to grab the phone again.

because whoever i was talking to better keep up, im not doing that phone stuff with them. make a point, complete that conversation.

i have my ringer on constantly, so i like never have my phone out unless im alone lmao

for me one of most appealing features of iMessage is the read receipts. I hate the anxiety that comes with "not knowing". Id rather know I'm being ignored if that makes sense?

except when they turn it off.
and yeah, i feel you. I would rather be truthfully hurt than live in ignorance and stuff

What do you get nervous about? That they got mad at you, or that they like died or something and can't reply?

Usually if someone gets irritated with you they'll act irritated rather than just straight up stop replying without warning.

Im irrational as forget.

It depends on the situation, like normally it is the mad option.

I have friends who wont reply irl, it is annoying as forget.

I do it all the time and it's just the worst

I don't have a phone. What is this "texting" you speak of?

OT: I sometimes get this through Steam/Skype chat, but not that often and it depends on the person I'm talking to.
