Life is a video game, because games are modelled after the way the world works.
Yes, games simplify things down to simple health bars and redundant/pointless quests a lot of the time, but the way in which games work on a psychological level is the exact same that life works.
That's why things like study, or trying to turn simple chores into mental games work when done right. We're taking tasks, applying motivations and then gaining feedback that our brain thrives on.
One point of games is to give you a contained experience that you couldn't normally have, without consequences like real, physical death. In that sense, games can be great, but generally (except for military, I'd rather not have you funny forgets get shot) you should try and go experience the real thing if you can. There's only so far we can take games, physical and digital.

Also, somebody mentioned virtual reality. That's a loving scary potential, and if we ever reach a level where we have fully-functioning VR and AI, I'm going to jettison the planet. Humans are too stupid to create such platforms without massive oversight. It'd also mean we'd begin to lose sight of reality, and what's the point of being alive if you're not going to enjoy what's right outside your window?
