Here's the way it should be
Gay pride needs to shut the forget up and people who think letting people be gay is the end of the world need to shut the forget up.
Being a straight male (I believe?) you've probably never witnessed anything beyond casual family values on your own, so you've come to the conclusion that gay rights aren't a big issue based on your life experience, rather than something objective like statistics.
I don't think being gay is a gift given by god
He was sort of overstating it, but he went on to explain that being gay gave him the perspective of someone who is marginalized, and allowed him to sympathize with similar movements like feminism/civil rights. So in that way it's a gift.
